Finding Your Way Forward...
Life can bring pain, uncertainty, and moments when you feel stuck — yet it’s possible to move forward in a way that honors what truly matters to you.
Hi, I’m Erin Rose, LCSW, therapist and owner of Counseling Services of Hawaii. I’m so glad you’re here and considering therapy. Therapy offers a space to explore your feelings, gain clarity, and work on creating positive change and a life more aligned with your values.
People often seek therapy when they:
Feel overwhelmed by anxiety or persistent worry
Struggle with depression or low mood
Have difficulty setting boundaries or say “yes” too often
Experience stress or burnout from caregiving or high demands
Are adjusting to a medical diagnosis or major health change
Navigate life transitions, new roles, or complex family dynamics
Face relationship or communication challenges
Struggle with confidence, self-esteem, or insecurity
Are healing from trauma or past painful experiences
The cost of keeping emotions locked up...
“The past is history, the future is a mystery, and the present is a gift”
You may have heard this saying. It’s a beautiful reminder - but it’s not always that simple.
Sometimes the past doesn’t feel like history at all. Old experiences can linger, showing up in the present and influencing how we feel and respond. And, on top of that, struggling with difficult emotions can get in the way of living fully in the here and now.
Imagine being given a box you’re told you can fill with anything you want: meaning, connection, laughter, joy, care. But when you look at the box you see it’s already full - full of fear, grief, anger, sadness, worry, shame. You find yourself sitting on the lid all day, trying to keep it all contained. It’s exhausting work, and leaves no room for the present - no room for the gift.
The good news? It doesn’t have to stay this way. You don’t have to hold it all in or open the box alone. Together, we can make space for what truly matters to you.
“The past affects the
present even without
our being aware of it.”
